lec 12 superficial structures of anterior and medial thigh Flashcards
What are the anterior divisions of the femoral nerve called and where do they go (Dorsal fibers)
intermediate and medial femoral cutaneous nerves go to skin of anterior thigh
muscular branch of sartorius
What does the posterior division of the femoral nerve innervate? (Dorsal fibers)
primarily muscular branches to anterior thigh muscles
Rectus femoris
Vastus medialis
Vastus lateralis
Vastus intermediate & articularis genus
**cutaneous branches to leg/foot and infrapatellar branch (saphenous nerve)
Articular branches to hip and knee joints
*a small branch may innervate pectineus and arise in the abdomen or proximal thigh
What does the anterior division of the obturator nerve innervate? (Ventral fibers)
Articular branch to hip joint Muscular branches to pectinius adductor longus Adductor brevis gracilis
Cutaneous branch to skin on lower, medial side of thigh
What does the posterior division of the obturator nerve innervate? (Ventral fibers)
Articular branch to knee joint
Muscular branches to: adductor Magnus
Adductor brevis
Obturator externus (or branch from obturator nerve trunk)
What does the great saphenous vein drain into?
femoral vein
What are the femoral vein tributaries?
Accessory saphenous
Lateral accessory saphenous
Small saphenous
Great saphenous
Where can the superficial Inguinal nodes be found?
near the saphenous hiatus
What are the two types of superficial Inguinal lymph nodes?
Proximal and distal
What things run through the femoral canal?
femoral nerve artery vein femoral canal empty space lacunar ligament
