Leadership is the process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to accomplish the mission and improve the organization
What is the role of the Non-commissioned officer?
Convey information and provide day to day guidance.
Train Soldiers to cope, prepare, and perform regardless of the situation.
Set and maintain high quality standards and discipline.
Be a standard bearer and role model critical to training, educating, and developing subordinates.
Prepare Soldiers for missions, stressing tradecrafts and physical hardening.
Coach, counsel, and mentor.

It supplies the will and initiative to do what is necessary to accomplish a mission
What are the foundations of Army Leadership?
History, loyalty to the Nation and the Constitution, accountability to authority, and Army doctrine
How does good physical fitness improve a Soldier’s leadership ability?
Physical fitness and adequate rest support cognitive functioning and emotional stability, both essential for sound leadership
What are the 4 levels of expertise required of all Leaders?
Tactical knowledge, technical knowledge, joint knowledge, and cultural and geopolitical knowledge
What is Tactical Knowledge?
The ability to employ individuals, teams, and organizations effectively to fight and win engagements and battles
What is Technical Knowledge?
The ability to employ equipment, weapons, and systems that give leaders the means to execute decisive action
What is Joint Knowledge?
A leader’s ability to work closely with other services to assure accomplishment of the mission

To train to the standards that ensure mission success
What is the primary purpose of inspections?
Ensure Soldiers, units, and systems are fully capable and ready to execute the mission

Through coaching, counseling, and mentoring
