What do you ultimately achieve by baiting people and forcing them to react?
You keep control of the situation
What can you play on to bait the other person into an aggressive reaction?
- greed
- fear
- impulsiveness
- emotional triggers
When is he best time to lay a trap?
- when you know they have no chance of success
- if they do clear the obstacles in their path, they’re at the worst time and place to launch an attack
What do you do once you’ve baited them?
- you stay in your position and make sure they’re coming to you
- you mislead them by putting a red herring in their path etc
Which is better - aggressive action or effective action?
Effective action
What are the hallmarks of aggressive action?
Bait -> aggression -> blind to consequences -> forced to react -> enemies increase
What are the hallmarks of effective action?
Stay back, keep calm –> lay traps and frustrate others -> play for long term power
How does the “Bait and Wait” give you power?
You keep the initiative. You make others react to your moves. They’re instantly on the defensive.
If you can definitely not avoid confrontation, how do you ensure that you have a better chance of winning?
- You bait them into a reaction
- They run towards you to attack you
- You throw them off the scent with a red herring etc
- They lose energy chasing ghosts
- You repeat steps 3-4 until they’ve lost enough energy
- By the time you face them they’re exhausted
- You have home advantage when you finally meet
What does home advantage count for?
At home, you have your bearings.
For them,
- They’re on the defensive
- Hostile ground –> nerves –>
- They rush their actions and make mistakes
How can you make a person feel your power through the Bait and Wait?
You make them realise they’re being baited, and if they still can’t help it and they come to you, it increases your power and respect in their eyes, and they will continue to do it later.
What criteria do you use to determine whether to bait and wait?
How much time you have and how strong your enemies are. Lots of time and strong enemies -> bait and wait
