Larynx Flashcards
Larynx
Voice production
Thyroid cartilage
Oblique line= sternothyrid, thyrohyoid and inferior constrictor
Cricoid cartilage
Arytenoid cartilage
Epiglottis
Elastic cartilage
Muscles of larynx: external
Supra and infrahyoid- Move larynx by swallowing
Elevation muscles: external
Digastric, Stylohyoid, myohyoid, geniohyoid
Depression muscles: external
Sternothyroid, sternothyroid, Omohyoid
Internal muscles: of larynx
Cricothyroid- tenses and elongates Vocal folds, external laryngeal branch of vagus
Thyroarytenoid- pulls arytenoids forwards, recurrent laryngeal nerve
Posterior cricoarytenoid- pulls muscular process of arytenoid backwards, recurrent laryngeal branch of vagus
Lateral cricoarytenoid- pulls muscular process forwards, recurrent laryngeal branch of vagus
Oblique arytenoid- recurrent laryngeal branch of vagus
Transverse arytenoid- closes posterior part of rimaglottidis, recurrent laryngeal branches of vagus
Vagus nerve branches
Inferior vagal ganglion- vagus nerve- right recurrent laryngeal n
Inferior vagal ganglion-pharyngeal branch
Inferior vagal ganglion- superior laryngeal nerve- internal laryngeal nerve
Inferior vagal ganglion- supeiror laryngeal nerve- external laryngeal nerve
Arterial supply to larynx
Superior laryngeal
Superior thyroid- form external carotid
Inferior laryngeal- from inferior thyroid
Inferior thyroid- form thyrocervical trunk form subclavian
Venous drainage of larynx
Superior and inferior laryngeal
Inferior and superior thyroid
