What is Laryngomalacia
A
congential abnormality of the larynx cartilage -predispose to supraglottic collapse during inspiration
2-6weeks old with noisy respiration and inspiratory stridor (worse supine, feeding, agitated) -NOT AT BIRTH
GORD/Feeding difficulties, cough/chocking => rarely lead to failure to thrive
Normal cry
Normal sats and everything else
Ix -O2 normal -can occasionally cause cyanosis
Flexible larynscopy
Mx - conservative
close observation until 18-24month where it should spontaneously resolve
can get worse around 6-8 months
complications -failure to thrive, resp distress, cyanosis
If so -endoscopic supraglottoplasty can repair defect
