L9 - Hypotheses and Compatibility Modes Flashcards
what is a Law,
a statement of relationships between properties that is generally true, and which can be used to predict future events.
what is a Theory
Deductions of relationships not yet observed but which can be used to create a hypotheses
what does Ho and H1 represent
Ho represents the null hypothese
H1 represents the alternate hypotheses
what is the Null hypotheses? (H0)
whatever differences you see in the data are do to chance.
- a specified difference between the two variables does not exists
- it is assumed to be true, until there is evidence to suggest otherwise.
what is the alternate Hypotheses
A specified difference between the two variables exist
why is it impossible to accept the null hypothesis
it impossible to fully except the null hypothesis because it is assumed that there is insufficient evidence.
the null hypotheses testing is only implemented to see of sufficient information is present to reject the null Hypothesis.
what does significance mean in statistics
“probably True”
