L14 -ANOVA Flashcards
What are the three types of T- tests?
Single sample, independent samples, and paired t test
What is type 1 error?
Rejecting the null hypothesis when it is actually true
(false positive)
What is an AVOVA test?
It allows us to investigate whether the variability is statistically significant
It measures the variation within the groups and compares it to the variation between groups
what are the assumptions in a one way ANOVA test?
- Independence: each group is compared as an independent random sample
- Normality: The samples are drawn from a population that is normally distributed.
- Homogeneity: the samples come from a population that has equal variance.
In an ANOVA test what is the Null Hypothesis
Ho: all the population means are equal.
what does the Post Hoc test do?
after an ANOVA test is done, and there is a statistically significant difference. A Post Hoc test can be done to determine which group means significantly differ from one another.
