What is a chronic illness
A disease lasting 3 months or more that cannot be prevented or cured by medication
What does coping mean
Psychological mechanism for managing external stress
May be action oriented and thought based
What are the 2 models of coping
Flight or fight model

What is the flight or fight response about
The nervous system increases in threat
What is the selyes general adaption syndrome about
They body goes through 3 processes when exposed to stress :
1) alarm: increase heart rate and increases adrenaline
2) resistance: the body repairs itself by lowering the hear rate back to normal
3) exhaustion : this is when is pro-longer you drain all your resources and leads to a fatigue or burnout
