How does peace promote H&W
—>Decreases the risk of injury and premature death/mortality (physical health and wellbeing) which results in reduced levels of stress and anxiety (mental wellbeing)
—> A peaceful society means people can go to school, work and earn an income (social WB)
—>Peace promotes the preservation of infrastructure
Education
People who are educated and have health literacy are more likely to make better health choices (e.g. take less risks such as driving under the influence of alcohol) and as a result, may be less likely to be hospitalised.
How does education promote H&W
▪ Educated individuals also tend to have higher rates of employment as they have sufficient qualifications. Promoting mental & social H & W
▪ Increased income, helps to promote their physical health (e.g. buy healthy foods and medicines if required) and mental health (e.g. they have self-confidence in their qualifications and are more likely to be resilient).

How does shelter promote H&W
—>A shelter can protect from weather conditions – to improve physical H & W by being less susceptible to illness & injury.
—>Security & privacy- improve mental H & W- less anxious & stress.
—>Promoting adequate sleep- improving physical/,mental/emotion H & W
—>Access to resources such as cooking facilities – improve Physical H & W by improving nutrition.
—>Ability to focus on employment or education, and more time to pursue a purposeful and meaningful life (spiritual WB)
—>Having a consistent shelter -> promotes safe water and sanitation preventing communicable diseases i.e.
food

Sustainable resources
meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs
How sustainable resources promote H & W
- Resources such as air, water, habitats and soil pave the way for not only current health status levels but also for ensuring the health of future generations – so they must be used in a responsible and sustainable way.
- Having clean air ensures that there is low incidence (new cases) of respiratory conditions such as asthma and allergies.
- Clean and sufficient water is essential for optimum health – particularly for hydration and the regulation of bodily processes such as digestion.

The state in which all persons obtain nutritionally adequate, culturally appropriate, safe food regularly through local non-emergency sources’ Gross national income (GNI) and personal income both impact the health of individuals in a population because they influence the kind of things people can do.
How Income promotes H & W
—> Individual benefit: Increased ability to afford healthcare, food, shelter, education. Access to these basic resources improves physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing
—> Government benefits: Increased ability to provide public healthcare systems (Medicare), public education, infrastructure such as roads, water, sanitation which improves overall health and wellbeing
equity
is not about treating everyone equally, but rather treating everyone fairly according to their situation and always providing for the disadvantaged group
How social justice and equity promotes H&W
—>When people feel that they are being treated fairly and that they are not being discriminated or mistreated, they have a greater sense of confidence, hope for the future and increased social cohesion – all of which are positive for emotional and social health.
—>Fair access to resources- healthcare, food & shelter
—>Upholding of basic human rights, education, and employment
