Q

how can you tell what kind of complex is formed by looking at a Lw-B plot?

A

if a ternary complex is formed, there will be an intersection of all the lines; if a tern. complex is not formed, all lines will be parallel

Q

what is rasagiline?

A

Rasagiline is a suicide inhibitor–important in parkinson’s disease

  • -inhibits monamine oxidases
  • -dopamine neurons get destoryed, dopamine decrease–monamine oxidases digest dopamine, so if you inhibit MAO you have higher levels of dopamine

Q

kcat/Km is a second order rate constant–>uper limit is 10e8 M-1 s-1

A

ya–with an enzyme that has a value close to this is called “diffusion controlled” and has reached catalytic perfection
