Dub
Electronic music style originating in Jamaica in late 1960’s which remixes reggae recordings, often removing vocals, emphasizing drums and bass, adding effects (particularly delays).
Delay
A music production technique where a recorded sound is repeated over and over as it gradually fades away, according to specific parameters.
Acapella
A style of signing, usually in a group, where there is no instrumental accompaniment (Example: part 2 of the intro to “The I of the storm”).
Subgenre
A style of music within a larger genre category (Example: Dubstep is a subgenre of EDM).
Remix
When one artist takes some element of an existing recorded song and adds new elements to create a new recording inspired by the original song (Example: Mad Professor’s Dub remixes of Jah9 songs).
