What do Muslims believe about Allah?
Allah is to Muslims, ‘the One and Only’, with nothing like him.
He is infinite (without limit) and eternal (outside time).
Because of this, no images of God can even be attempted.
What type of religion is Islam?
Monotheistic - Muslims believe in ONE, spiritual God called Allah.
Why don’t Muslims permit drawings or images of Allah?
Because they believe this would be disrespectful to draw or depict the infinity and perfection that is God.
How do Muslims believe they know about Allah?
Through the Qur’an (‘The Recitation’) which they believe was recited to their prophet, Muhammed (PBUH), by the angel Jibril (Gabriel).
What do Muslims believe about Muhammed?
He was the final and prefect prophet of the One God - the last in a line which dates back to Adam and includes Jesus, Moses and Abraham.
How do Muslims see Christianity and Judaism?
Basically the same as Islam with only a few differing details.
What does the word Islam mean?
Peace and surrender (to the will of Allah).
Peace can only be found, they believe, through graciously surrendering to the will of Allah and following the Five Pillars of Islam.
What are the Five Pillars of Islam?
Shahadah Salat Zakat Swam Hajj
What is Shahadah?
Belief in ONE God and in his prophet, Muhammed
What is Salat?
Daily prayer - five times a day
What is Zakat?
Giving to the poor
What is Sawm?
Fasting during the month of Ramadan, which remembers the time when Muhammed first began receiving the Qur’an.
What is Hajj?
The once in a lifetime pilgrimage to Mecca, the holy city of Islam
What is a Muslim’s holy building?
A mosque
When was Islam founded?
In 610CE by Muhammed in Saudia Arabia
