Journaling 101-Why Journal? Flashcards
At its core journaling is whatever you want it to be, some use it to keep track of events, others to work through challenging issues.
In this first chapter of journaling 101 you’ll explore the benefits of journaling and how different types of journaling can unlock them.
Lets start with the basics…
How do you feel about starting your journaling habit?
Reflect on writing…
What’s your relationship with writing?
To help you on your journey, we’ll explore a few different journaling themes that can aid you in achieving your goals.
Gratitude writing is an easy introduction to journaling and has been shown to help lessen negative thoughts and feelings.
Focus on what your most grateful for, it can be anything from a friend to the sunshine on your face.
Big or small…
What are you grateful for?
Now lets explore daily journaling.
Writing about the days events can help you feel grounded and remember details of your life.
Write about anything from an everyday experience to something amazing. Its all worth sharing.
Think back…
Recall a recent moment or event that you’d like to remember.
Gratitude and daily writing are two important building blocks to increasing your well being through journaling, and will be easier to make a habit as you practice.
A regular journaling habit is linked to an increase in happening and connection with yourself as well as reducing stress and anxiety.
Maintaining a journaling habit can be helped by creating an “if/then” plan. This plan will help you recognise the triggers that make your goals harder to achieve and overcome them.
It can be as simple as:
IF you get home and want to watch tv THEN you’ll start journaling.
IF you wake up and want to scroll your phone,THEN you’ll start journaling.
Now its time to create your “If/Then” plan.
Take your time…
What is your If/Then plan?
Come back and review your plan anytime you need a reminder on how you can make journaling a habit
Congratulations on finishing day 1 of journaling 101.
Continue to day 2 to learn about the different types of journal writing styles that will help unlock even more benefits.
