no cavities, somewhat moveable, (growth zones in arms and legs) 2 types = synchondrosis and symphysis.

have cavities, kept lubricated by synovial fluid, 4 types include plane, uniaxial, biaxial, and multiaxial
flexion
flexing the biceps, decrease angle between 2 bones
extension
unbending to increase angle between 2 bones
abduction
moving a body part away from the midline
adduction
moving a body part toward the midline
circumduction
movement of a body part in a circle
rotation
movement of body part around its axis
supine
lying face up
prone
lying face down
dorsiflexion
flexing foot up towards leg
plantar flexion
flexing foot down away from leg
