Q
How is weight variable between mice with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and those treated with an over expression of a7B31? Name three other symptoms of DMD and what changes were studied in mice with the over-expression of a7B31.
A
Weight in mice with DMD decreases noticeably in the first 20 weeks of life. This leads to a lack of nutrients and decreased muscle strength. In mice with the a7B31 overly expressed protein, weight is maintained at a stable and normal level, however weight gain was not likely. Symptoms: -Waddling gait -Kyphosis -Joint contractures -Decreased Neruomuscular Junction folds Change: -hind legs retain function and gait is normal -minimal to no spinal bending -complete function and use of joints -significantly increased number of folds
