Isa Gross Flashcards
The vestibulospinal system processes sensory information underlying motor responses to self-motion, head position and spatial orientation relative to gravity
TRUE
Eye movements and stabilizing gaze aren’t components of the vestibulospinal system
FALSE
The asymmetrical descending influence after a spinal cord injury causes often spasticity, which is due to..
exaggerated responses ipsilateral to SCI
Rotation of the head is detected by which of the following organs
cupula & ampullae
Are trunk and pelvis movements altered in spinal cord injured subjects, when yes how and why is the movement of those segments changed?
Yes, they are altered. Both segments show a forward bending position while subjects are standing and walking. The SCI subjects try to counteract the deficits in their lower limbs. They move their center of gravity more forward over the base of support in order to gain more stability and to prevent falling down.
