ivf is a method of assited fertalisation that invloves the combination of an egg and sperm in a test tube.

what is the process of ivf

A
  1. an egg and sperm are combined in vitro (a test tube)
  2. once embryos are formed, usually two to four of them are transferred to a womens uterous fo implantation
  3. it is hoped that once embryos are planted they will grow into a mature fetus and a baby being formed.

  1. defining initiation of life ethically
    - ivf usually produces more mebryos than need so is it ethical to dispose of those extra embryos?
  2. turning children into commodities
    - ivf turns children and child bearing into a commodity to be sold
  3. should ivf be offered to older women
