the jakarta decleration is an extension of the ottowa charter of health promotion and the first to include the private sector. It offers a vision and focus for health promotion into the next century.

describe the prioroty area of: promote social responsibility for health
decision makers (both within private and public sectors) must commit to social responsiblity. in other words people have the responsibility to act within the best interest of society.

most countries do not invest enough money in health and the little that is invested is noyt enough to make a change. Countires must invest more money in health.
describe the priority area of: consolidate and expand partnerships for health
countries must develop partnerships between governements and the broader society. the existance of suhc partneerships offer benefits for health through the sharing of expertise, skills and resources.

health promotion must be carried out by and with people - not on or to people.
