- Infiltration
- tip of cannula slips out/through vein - Phlebitis
- vessel wall infection - site infection
- Bacteria in subcutaneous tissue - fluid overload
- increase BP, pulse, respirations - Air embolism
- air enters vein or artery and blocks it

A
- chest pain
- shoulder pain
- hypotension
- cyanosis
- change of level of consciousness
