Often asymp Haematuria Mucosal bleeding Petechiae Bruising Fatigue Menorrhagia Other bleeding

Phyiology
A
Immune thrombocytopenia
Low platelets causes bruising and bleeding
Autoimmune attack of platelets, can follow virus, vacc, certain drugs etc.
Often unkn cause
Acute ITP sudd onset
Persistent if over 3 mnth
Chronic over 12 mnth

Ix
A
FBC and platelets Film LFTs HIV Bm biop if persists IPT if all abive are normal

Mx
A
Blood monitoring only in mild adults
1st line- steroid, IVIg
2nd line- azathioprine, ciclosporin, cycloP, vinca alkaloids, rituximab, mycophenolate, rarely spenectomy
Tranexamic acid for eg dental procedures
Horm therapy for menorrhagia
Pl transfusion if active bleed eg in surgery
Avoid NSAIDs
