Definition
A
Severe airway/resp and circ compromise. Usually skin and mucosal changes. Acute and life threatening. Over 30% reduc BP or end organ symps. May be persis GI symps.

A
Kids- nuts, milk, egg
Adult- insect, drugs, fish, nuts
Sensitised indiv exposed to specif Ag. IgE to Ag to mast and baso to hist to body resp.

Acute mx
A
ABCDE, HELP Remove trigger, maint airway, oxygen Adrenaline IM 1/1000 0.01ml/kg. Rep every 5 mins as required. Salbutamol neb for bronchospasm Antihistamine eg IV chlorpheniramine 10mg Hydrocortisone IV 200mg Lie flat and fluids if hypot Neb adrenaline if laryngeal oedema

Epipen- remove cap to prime. Orange or black to thigh. Push and hold for 5-10 sec. lie with feet up.
