The Five Pillars of Islam
Submission to God is
mainly done through these important rituals. (faith, Prayer, fasting, Almsgiving, Pilgrimage)
Pillar 1
Shahadah
(Proclamation of Faith) - This
phrase is so important that
it’s on the Saudi Arabian flag.
Pillar 2
Salah/Salat (Prayer) –
Needs to be done facing
Mecca, no matter where in
the world you are. Includes
standing and kneeling.
Pillar 3
Fasting, to give up food and drink during the daylight hours of Ramadan
Pillar 4
To give money to those who need it in a community
Pillar 5
Hajj (Pilgrimage) -
Mecca is off limits these days
to non-Muslims.

followers. Muslims question the trustworthiness of Hadiths

believe these first

the rightful rulers

Some Muslims believe
caliphs should have
been elected based on
