Indus Valley Civilization 2630 BCE, who are they
They were significant, as they were a grand civilisation which was uncommon, with large cities, jewelry, no war etc. The largest population out of the Bronze age civilizations (5 million).
Indus Valley Civilization 1700 BCE, disapearance
The civilization disappeared around 1700 bce. The theory is that the major rivers dried up, forcing relocation. 200 years later migrates relocated here called Vedic peoples.
Vedic Peoples (Aryans) 1500 BCE, Vedas
- wrote many hymns called Vedas
- The Vedas informed Vedic people how to run life, religion etc.
- This introduced the basis of Hinduism
Vedic Peoples 480 BCE,
A famous Hindu prince named Siddhārtha Gautama was born in what is modern day nepal. He was born in luxury and never seen the outside world.
Gautama’s way to Buddha
Gautama was dissatisfied with life, they journeyed outside to find more suffering from the palace of luxury.
He then sought out wisdom to find out why life is the way it is, renounced his crown, and meditated for 6 years under a tree.
He then found a balance between life of luxury and suffering called Nirvana.
He was then renamed Budha, the awakened one.
The Maurya Empire 294 BCE
established by Hindu emperor Chandragupta Maurya.
He is someone who saved India from being conquered by Alexander the Great, and fulfulled his dharma.
The Maurya Empire 261 BCE
Ashoka the great, Mauryas grandson, conquered the rest of India, and saw that many lives were lost, and became Buddhist. He encouraged many people to take upon a new dharma.
The Maurya Empire 11 CE
Successors could not uphold policies, and the empire crumbled. Budism almost went extinct.
