Anticholinergic bronchodilator
PRESENTATION OF IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE (ATROVENT)
250 mcg in 1 mL nebule or polyamp
ACTIONS OF IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE
Allows bronchodilatation by inhibiting cholinergic bronchomotor tone
(i.e. blocks vagal reflexes which mediate bronchoconstriction)
PRIMARY EMERGENCY INDICATIONS OF IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE (ATROVENT)
Severe respiratory distress associated with bronchospasm
CONTRAINDICATIONS OF IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE (ATROVENT)
Known hypersensitivity to Atropine or its derivatives

Onset: 3 - 5 min
Peak: 1.5 - 2 hr
Duration: 6 hr
ADULT DOSE OF IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE (ATROVENT)
0.5 mg Nebulised Once
Administered with salbutamol
PAEDIATRIC DOSE OF IPRATROPIUM BROMIDE (ATROVENT)
0.25mg Nebulised Once only
administered with salbutamol
