- Reflexive. i.e. hiccuping
- Tonic.
- The continuos & passive partial contraction of the muscle
- Muscles resistance to passive stretching during its resting state

- Isometric-generates force without changing either muscle length or joint position
- Isotonic-changes muscle length allowing the production of movement

Tendons connect skeletal muscles to bone, cartilage, ligament, fascia, organs or skin.
- Composed mainly of parallel arrays of collagen fibers
- Aponeuroses are flat sheeted tendons.

Tendons are much stronger, especially in tension.
