Interviews Flashcards
What is a clinical interview
It is a semi structured or unstructured approach because new questions are developed as you go along in response to your answers
What is a structured interview
When all the questions are decided in advance
What is a semi structured or unstructured interview
When all of the questions are developed during the course of the interview
What are the strengths of interviews as opposed to a questionnaire
Useful for those who struggle to write,
more information can be elicited through questioning techniques,
using semi structured interviews further questions can be developed based on the interviewees answers thereby increasing the amount of information that can be gathered and
finally an interview can deal with any ambiguous or uncertain question at the time
What are the weaknesses of the interview versus the questionnaire
The interviewer may have a bias and unconsciously lead respondents to provide certain answers by verbal or visual cues. Additionally, some people will be more open when writing answers to a questionnaire
