Describe and evaluate structured interview
Structured interview- standardised set of questions
Strengths- Requires less skill than unstructured interviews, data easier to analyse
Weaknesses- Restricted responses, responses may be affected by interviewer behaviour (Interviewer bias)
Describe and evaluate semi-structured interview
Semi-structured interview – some standardisation and some flexibility as there’s a base set of questions but more questions may be asked for further detail
Strengths-Gains high quality data and flows like conversation
Weakness- Time consuming and risk of researcher bias
What are interviews?
Spoken, one-to-one interaction between researcher and participant

Unstructured Interview- Start with base idea/aim and then ask further questions based off of responses given
Strengths- High quality data and unique responses
Weaknesses- May be affected by interviewer bias as questions are made up on the spot, interviewer needs extra training

Ethics need to be considered
Direct quotes may be taken from interview, important to anonymise participant details to ensure confidentiality
