INTERMEDIATE MAIN PHASE Flashcards
For a 50-60 minute class the main phase will be how long?
35 - 40m
Some things to bear in mind when teaching intermediate level classes
Ensure that all new exercises are demonstrated
*
All exercises and release stretches should flow and link with one another – exercises and stretches might finish on the start position for the next link, for example, hip flexor release into single leg stretch
*
Always observe, walk around and correct all participants using the hands-on correction technique, especially as the exercises become more challenging
*
You will still need to offer adaptations, progressions, and modifications
*
Plan and instruct a balanced flowing workout to include strength, mobility, and flexibility in all planes of movement, there will be fewer release stretches now that the class is intensified
*
Always start from the base and lower levels and progress only when the lower levels have been mastered with perfect form
*
Ensure LTB throughout and use the breath to enhance the exercise as at the intermediate level clients should be able to master this
How can we intensify the sessions for an intermediate class?
- decreasing rest time
- teaching exercises back to back, no rest with relaxation exercises only done at the end
- decrease demonstration, using imagery instead
- increase reps/ breaths
- introduce equipment
