Q

Describe cleavage of HA & pathogenicity

A
  • progeny influenza viruses are spiked with HA0
  • HA0 must be cleaved into HA1 & HA2 by host cellular proteases
  • human influenza HA0 is cleaved by tryptase Clara found in certain cells
