Antigen Receptor Diversity Flashcards
1
Q
What is antigen receptor diversity a result of ?
A
- gene rearrangment/recombination due to the unique ability of B cell-Ig and TCR genes to move & rearrange themselves
2
Q
What are the 4 receptor diversification mechanisms?
A
- somatic recombination = random recombination of gene segments
- Junctional diversity = addition of P&N nucleotides
- Random H & L combination
- Somatic Hypermutation = receptor editing
3
Q
Where does the 1st three receptor diversification mechanisms occur ?
A
- in a developing B cell
4
Q
Where does somatic hypermutation occur ?
A
- Occurs after a B cell encounters an antigen
