- attacks liver, resulting in lifelong infection, cirrhosis, liver cancer, liver failure, and death
- There is an immunization available and is very effective

- Flu like symptoms, Jaundice
- Vaccination should be done for all health providers
- Vaccine in 3 stages
- Post exposure vaccination is available

A
- Bloodborne pathogen
- Both an acute and a chronic form of liver disease caused by the Hepatitis C virus
- Leading indication for liver transplant

What are signs, symptoms, and management of Hepatitis C
A
- Jaundice
- Upper Right quadrant pain
- Loss of appetite, nausea, fatigue
- Dark urine
- There is no vaccine for Hep C
- Drugs: Interferon and Ribavirin
- Drinking alcohol can worsen it

- Weight Loss
- Diarrhea, severe fatigue

- Lesions
- No vaccine, treatment cannot cure but prolong life
- Consists of three different drugs

- A: Virus, Causes inflammation of liver, does not lead to chronic liver disease
- D: Virus, Causes inflammation of liver, Symptoms can be severe, 2 percent mortality rate
- E: Virus, Causes inflammation of liver, transmitted through fecal and oral routes, Waterborne and foodborne in countries with poor sanitation
