erythematous macules and papules begin on face and go down

What is the tx for measles?
supportive care
possible vitamin A helps
what are some complications to measles?
OM pneumonia (most fatal)* croup diarrhea hepatitis thrombocytopenia encephalitis
How is Rubella spread?
through air droplets or droplet contact of nasopharyngeal secretions
What is the prodrome of rubella?
low grade fever HA sore throat conjunctivitis rhinorhrrea cough lymphadenopathy
What is the exanthem of rubella?
pruritic, pink to red macules
begin on the face and spread to the trunk over 24 hours
What are some complications
MC encephalitis
thrombocytopenia
If a pregnant patient has rubella, how will this effect the infant?
mental retardation
SN hearing loss
eye abnormalities
CHD
What is the Dx test for rubella?
serology for rubella specific IgM
What is the tx for rubella?
supportive care
