- General Impression
- LOC
- XABC’s
- High Flow 02 & End Tidal cO2
- HX: SAMPLE
- Vitals
- 2 Large Bore IV Access or IO
- 30ml/kg LR fluid bolus
- Consider 2-10mcg/min of Epi Infusion
- Temp Regulation
- 12 Lead
- Sepsis Alert
- Transport Quickly to appropriate Hospital
Abrupt onset of flulike illness:
-Fever
-Fatigue
-Nausea/vomiting
All this followed by:
-Abdominal pain
-Jaundice
-Dark urine
-Clay-colored stools
HX:
-Alcoholism
-Tylenol OD
-Drug use (Needle sharing)
-Sexually Active
-Fatty Liver Disease
Hepatitis
- Prolonged high fever
- Chills
- Headache
- Malaise
- Eextreme fatigue
- Enlarged spleen (splenomegaly causing LUQ Pain)
Cytomegalovirus (CMV)
Member of the herpesvirus family. This very common viral infection has no known cure, and can remain dormant in the body for years
-Lock Jaw
-Muscular tetany (muscle spasms and twitching)
-Painful muscular contractions in the neck, moving to the trunk
-Abdominal rigidity (often the first sign in pediatric patients)
-Painful spasms (contortions) of the face (risus sardonicus), which produce a grotesque smile
-Respiratory failure
Tetanus
A rare, sometimes fatal, noncommunicable disease of the CNS;
It is caused by infection of a wound with spores of Clostridium tetani
Dengue
-High Fever & atleast 2 of the following:
-Severe headache
-Severe pain behind the eyes
-Joint pain
-Muscle and/or bone pain
-Rash
-Mild bleeding (from nose, gums, or petechiae or bruising)
-Low white blood cell count
HX:
-Tropical Vacation
Dengue
-Fever
-Maculopapular rash
-Headache
-Joint pain
-Myalgias
-Conjunctivitis (without pus)
HX:
-Africa Vacation
Zika
Many of those infected with Zika have only mild symptoms, or no symptoms.
-Watery diarrhea as often as 10 to 15 times a day
-Belly cramping and pain, which may be severe
-Tachycardia
-Dehydration
-Fever
-Nausea
-Loss of appetite
-Swollen belly
-Weight loss
-Blood or pus in the stool
C Diff
-Fever
-Chills
-Shortness of breath
-Cough
-Abdominal pain
-Pain when you pee
-Redness, swelling or itching at a surgical or injury site
CRE
Commonly in Hospital settings
-Fever
-Chills
-Shortness of breath
-Cough
-Abdominal pain
-Pain when you pee
-Redness, swelling or itching at a surgical or injury site
-Discharge
-Burning during urination
-Unusual sores or rash
-Eye pain, sensitivity to light, and pus-like discharge from one or both eyes
-Sore throat and swollen lymph nodes
-Septic arthritis
Gonorrhea
-Headache
-Loss of appetite
-Mild conjunctivitis
-Stuffy/Runny nose
-Swollen lymph nodes in other parts of the body
-Painful/swollen joints
Rubella (German measles)
Mild, febrile, and highly communicable viral disease;
Usually is transmitted by direct contact with nasopharyngeal secretions or droplet spray from an infected person;
Contact with articles contaminated with blood, urine, or feces
-Fever
-Conjunctivitis
-Upper respiratory infection symptoms
-Cough
-Bronchitis
-Blotchy red rash
Rubeola (measles)
Acute, highly communicable viral disease
-Localized edema of one or more of the salivary glands
-The swelling may affect both sides or only one side of the neck
-Difficulty chewing
-Pain and tenderness of the testicles
-Fever
-Headache
-Muscle aches
-Tiredness
-Loss of appetite
Mumps
Virus is passed through direct contact with the saliva droplets of an infected person
-Fever (which may last for weeks)
-Sore throat
-Oropharyngeal discharges
-Lymphadenopathy (especially posterior cervical)
-Splenomegaly with abdominal tenderness
Mononucleosis
(Kissing disease)usually caused by the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), though other organisms such as cytomegalovirus (CMV) occasionally cause a mononucleosis-like syndrome
