INDIVIDUALIST ANARCHISM Flashcards
What do individual anarchists think about people
People are self-seeking or egotistical
Whats the centre of individualist anarchism
The individual and autonomy
Why should autonomy not be restricted
There must be the widest possible choice for all individuals
There is a fear of what
The individual will be made subject to the desires of the collective
What will create order
A meeting of mutual interest through voluntary contracts will provide natural order
What are 2 strands of individualist anarchism
Egoism and Anarcho-capitalism
Egoism Versus anarcho-capitalism over the individual
Egoism - Individual is the ego, a concept of autonomy
Anarcho-Capitalism - Individual freedom is the supreme value
What does egoism strand think about fixed ideas
As there can be no restrictions on the ego, “fixed ideas” cannot be a thing
What is the ideal society for anarcho-capitalists
A stateless society as the state is incompatible with liberty because it has the power to tax and control over the powers of coercion
What should the state be replaced with for anarcho-capitalists
Replaced by the market, an invisible hand that would allow private interests to coincide to create good through voluntary and mutually beneficial changes
