As soon as 1 engine is started
What does the Sidestick Order indication indicate?
The total of the Captains and FO’s sidestick orders (eg. left wing down, pitch up)
When does the Ground Roll Guidance Command Bar appear on the PFD?
When the aircraft is on the ground, or below 30ft RA provided that a localiser signal is available.
What does the Ground Roll Guidance Command Bar on the PFD indicate?
The Flight Director yaw orders to maintain the aircraft on the runway centreline
When is the yellow outline of the fixed aircraft symbol on the PFD dimmed?
When TRK-FPA is selected, unless the FMA is in TOGA or FLX mode

lateral acceleration of the aircraft

Show sideslip (as computed by FAC)
When does the sideslip index change from yellow to blue?
When:
- CONF 1, 2 OR 3 is selected, and
- Any ENG EPR >1.25 or 1 Thrust Lever >MCT/FLX, and
- Difference between ENG EPR >0.25
What is the minimum airspeed indication on the PFD?

What does the tip of the speed trend indicate?
The speed the aircraft will reach in 10 sec if its acceleration remains constant.
When will the speed trend:

Target airspeed,
calculated by the FMGC in

What does a blue triangle indicate on the airspeed tape?

ECON speed range
What does a green = symbol on the airspeed tape indicate?
The speed at which overspeed protection becomes active:
VMO+6 kt, or
MMO+0.01
When can the magenta = ECON Speed range symbols be expected on the airspeed tape?
In descent mode with ECON/AUTO SPD mode active.
Showing upper and lower limits as calculated by the FMGC.
What is the upper speed of the ECON speed range?
Target speed +20kts
limited to VMAX or VMO -3kts, or MMO -0.006
whichever is the lowest
If a speed limit or speed constraint applies, the upper margin is limited to ECON SPD +5 kts
What is the lower speed of the ECON speed range?
Target speed -20kts
limited to green dot, F, S, or VLS, whichever is highest
What is VLS?
Minimum Selectable Speed
Top of the amber strip
Represents lowest selectable speed providing appropriate margin to the stall
When is VLS information inhibited?
Touchdown until
10 sec after lift-off
What is Alpha Protection Speed?
Top of the black and Amber strip
Represents speed corresponding to angle of attack at which Alpha protection becomes active
When is Alpha Protection speed displayed?
in Pitch Normal Law
What is Alpha Max speed?
Top of a red strip
Represents speed corresponding to maximum angle of attack aircraft can attain in pitch normal law
When is Alpha Max speed displayed?
in Pitch Normal Law
What is VMAX?
Lower end of red and black strip
The lowest of:
- VMO / MMO
- VLE
- VFE
What is VSW?
Stall Warning Speed
Top of red and black strip
Speed corresponding to the stall warning
When is VSW information inhibited?
from touchdown,
until 5 secs after lift-off
When is VSW displayed?
When operating in:
Pitch Alternate Law, or
Pitch Direct Law
What does F represent?
Minimum flap retract speed
When does F appear on speed tape?
when the flap selector is in position 3 or 2
When does S appear on speed tape?
when the flap selector is in position 1
What does an amber = symbol on the airspeed tape indicate?
The VFE corresponding to the next flap lever position
When does VFE next appear on the airspeed tape?
when aircraft altitude is below 15000ft (or 20000ft depending on FAC standard)
What does green dot indicate?
Engine-out operating speed in clean configuration
Appears when aircraft flying in clean config

How is VR depicted on the speed tape?

How is V2 depicted during take-off on the speed tape?
by the target speed index (magenta triangle)
When does the altitude window change from yellow to amber?
when the aircraft deviates from the FCU selected altitude or flight level
When will the altitude numbers change from yellow to amber?
when the aircraft goes below the minimum on any approach for which a minimum is entered in the FMGC
When is the green (magenta -YUD) linear deviation ball displayed on the altitude tape?
From top of descent down to MAP altitude
What does the green (magenta -YUD) ball on the altitude tape represent?
the altitude corresponding to the theoretical vertical profile computed by the FMGC
What is the range of the Linear Deviation ball?

If FD1 Fails, what does PFD1 display?
FD2 orders, automatically

- A reversion to the HDG V/S basic mode (manual or automatic), or
- Selected flight level is changed when ALT CAPTURE mode is engaged
- Loss of LOC or GS in LAND mode or loss of LAND mode, or
- At the first AP or FD engagement
When does the LOC scale flash on the PFD?
If deviation exceeds 1/4 dot for 2 sec,
aircraft between 15ft - 1000ft, and
CAT2 or CAT3 capability displayed on FMA. and
either LOC, LAND, or FLARE engaged
When does the glideslope scale flash on the PFD?
If deviation exceeds 1 dot for 2 sec (above 100ft RA)
How is the Outer marker and Middle marker displayed when overflying them?
OM -blue
MM -amber
When would an amber flashing LS message appear during an ILS?
When the APPR mode is armed bu the LS pb has not been selected
What does the tailstrike pitch limit represent?
The maximum pitch limit that would avoid a tail strike with the main gear struts compressed.
When does the tailstrike pitch limit appear?
400ft RA

9 secs and then remain steady.
DH flashes for 3 secs and then remains steady -YUD only
