Indicating / Recording DSC 31 PFD Flashcards
When do the Side Stick Order crossbars and Max Sidestick Deflection corners appear on the PFD?
As soon as 1 engine is started
What does the Sidestick Order indication indicate?
The total of the Captains and FO’s sidestick orders (eg. left wing down, pitch up)
When does the Ground Roll Guidance Command Bar appear on the PFD?
When the aircraft is on the ground, or below 30ft RA provided that a localiser signal is available.
What does the Ground Roll Guidance Command Bar on the PFD indicate?
The Flight Director yaw orders to maintain the aircraft on the runway centreline
When is the yellow outline of the fixed aircraft symbol on the PFD dimmed?
When TRK-FPA is selected, unless the FMA is in TOGA or FLX mode
a) How does the PFD change when the Roll Index indicates bank angle >45 deg?
b) when does the PFD return to normal?
a) All PFD symbols disappear except for: Attitude Speed Heading Altitude Vertical Speed
b) Bank angle <40 deg
a) How does the PFD change when the Pitch angle exceeds 25 deg NU or 13 deg ND
b) when does the PFD return to normal?
a) All PFD symbols disappear except for: Attitude Speed , Speed Trend Heading Altitude Vertical Speed
b) Pitch angle <22 deg NU or 13 deg ND
When do the large red arrow heads on the PFD appear to show direction to move the nose?
Pitch Attitude >30 deg
What do the green = symbol indicate on the PFD?
On the roll scale -mark the bank angle protection availability
On the pitch scale -mark the pitch limits at 15 deg ND or 30 deg NU
What does the trapezoidal index beneath the roll index indicate on the ground?
lateral acceleration of the aircraft
What does the trapezoidal index beneath the roll index indicate in flight?
Show sideslip (as computed by FAC)
When does the sideslip index change from yellow to blue?
When:
- CONF 1, 2 OR 3 is selected, and
- Any ENG EPR >1.25 or 1 Thrust Lever >MCT/FLX, and
- Difference between ENG EPR >0.25
What is the minimum airspeed indication on the PFD?
30kt
What does the tip of the speed trend indicate?
The speed the aircraft will reach in 10 sec if its acceleration remains constant.
When will the speed trend:
a) appear?
b) disappear?
a) >2 kts
b) <1 kt, or if the FAC’s fail
What does a magenta triangle indicate on the airspeed tape?
Target airspeed,
calculated by the FMGC in
managed speed mode
What does a blue triangle indicate on the airspeed tape?
Target airspeed,
manually entered on the FCU in
selected speed mode
What do magenta = symbol(s) indicate on the airspeed tape?
ECON speed range
What does a green = symbol on the airspeed tape indicate?
The speed at which overspeed protection becomes active:
VMO+6 kt, or
MMO+0.01
When can the magenta = ECON Speed range symbols be expected on the airspeed tape?
In descent mode with ECON/AUTO SPD mode active.
Showing upper and lower limits as calculated by the FMGC.
What is the upper speed of the ECON speed range?
Target speed +20kts
limited to VMAX or VMO -3kts, or MMO -0.006
whichever is the lowest
If a speed limit or speed constraint applies, the upper margin is limited to ECON SPD +5 kts
What is the lower speed of the ECON speed range?
Target speed -20kts
limited to green dot, F, S, or VLS, whichever is highest
What is VLS?
Minimum Selectable Speed
Top of the amber strip
Represents lowest selectable speed providing appropriate margin to the stall
When is VLS information inhibited?
Touchdown until
10 sec after lift-off
What is Alpha Protection Speed?
Top of the black and Amber strip
Represents speed corresponding to angle of attack at which Alpha protection becomes active
When is Alpha Protection speed displayed?
in Pitch Normal Law
What is Alpha Max speed?
Top of a red strip
Represents speed corresponding to maximum angle of attack aircraft can attain in pitch normal law
When is Alpha Max speed displayed?
in Pitch Normal Law
What is VMAX?
Lower end of red and black strip
The lowest of:
- VMO / MMO
- VLE
- VFE
What is VSW?
Stall Warning Speed
Top of red and black strip
Speed corresponding to the stall warning
