‘visions quests’, guided by spirit animals and performed special dances called the sun dance

Sacred, for example, the Black Hills of Dakota
Why did Lakota people believe that the Black Hills of Dakota were sacred?
They believe they had been created in a special cave in these hills by the great spirit
