Important Anatomical Areas Flashcards
What is the trapezius muscle
The superficial back muscle
What is the pectorals major muscle
The muscle on the pectoral
What is the pectoralis minor muscle
The muscle that would be underneath the pectoralis major muscle
Would be attached to the ribs 3 4 and 5
What level is the trachea
The C6
What level is the hyoid bone
C3
What is the muscle underneath the hyoid
Thyrohyroid muscle
What is the sternocloimastoid muscle
Muscle in the neck.
Would go between the jugular veins, separating them into deep and superficial
What are the two cartilage in the throat
The cricoid (containing the thyroid glands)
The thyroid
What is the vein that extends into the upper arm
The cephalic vein
Where is the azygous vein and where does it extend down from
In the thorax
Would extend down from the jugular veins
What is the muscle below the thyrohyoid muscle
Sternothyroid
What is the muscle infront of the sternothyroid and the thyrohyoid muscle
The sternohyroid muscle
What is the periosteum
The sheath around the bone
Would contain blood vessels that would allow nutrients to be carried through the bone
Would also have nutrient artery’s that would carry nutrients to the bone
What is the difference between the osteoblasts and chondrocytes in bone formation
Chondrocytes form bone in the epiphysis (growing area)
Osteoblast would come from the bone marrow and can form the chondrocytes
What cavity contains bone marrow
The medullary cavity
What tuberosity is on the humerus
Deltoid tuberosity which would be next to the deltoid muscle
What is supination
Arm held out from
What is pronation
Arm held out twisted
Palm facing downwards
What is the area of connective tissue between the ulna and the radius
The interosseous membrane
What is the function of the azygous vein
Carries blood back from the chest and abdomen to the heart
What vein goes between the jugular veins in the thorax
The brachocephallic vein
What does the common iliac artery branch into
The external and internal iliac arteries
(Know that the internal would move inwards towards the sacrum)
What is the epiglottis and what is its function
A layer of tissue below the tongue
Would close the airways and would stop food from entering the trachea
What is thrombosis
The blood clot that would form in the vessels
This could then lead to a stroke in the brain
What is global cerebral ischaemia
Stroke that would effect the whole brain and would mainly be due to the occusions in the blood vessels
What is aponeurosis
Tendon like materials that would connect to muscles or connect muscles to those that move
What is the hilum
Where vessels would enter of leave the organs
