Direct control and indirect control?
What is imperialism?
Extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force.
Compare direct control to indirect control?
Direct control is stricter and more controlling, but indirect control is leading towards the attainment of direct control.
What is a colony?
A country or territory governed internally by a foreign power.
What is a protectorate?
A country or a territory with its own internal government but under the control of an outside power.
What is a sphere of influence?
An area in which an outside power claims exclusive investment or trading privileges.
What is economic imperialism?
An independent but less developed country controlled by private businesses interests rather than other governments.
