Immunotherapy of Cancer Flashcards
What is passive immunotherapy?
Injection of monoclonal antibodies into cancer patient
What is a lymphokine activated killer cell?
IL-2 infustions, Leukapheresis, Large scale cell culture
Treat cancer using NK cells
What are Tumor infiltrating lymphocytes?
T cells infiltrating solid tumor biosies expanded in rIL-2 in vitro
Why do you have to deplete the lymphocytes prior to T cell transfer?
Because the infused T cells would be inactivated due to the abundance of leukocytes in the patient
How do dendritic cell vaccine used?
Dendritic cells that process tumor antigens are injected into the patient to provoke an immune response
How do Anti-CTLA4 treat tumors?
Prevents tumors from inactivating T cells by blocking their induced CTLA4 molecules
How do CAR T cells work?
Genetically modified to activated against CD19 expressed on tumor cells
Work mainly in liquid tumors (lymphomas)
What severe side effect is associated with CAR-T cell therapy?
Cytokine storm
