Immunity/Allergy Flashcards
Type 1 Drug Reactions
IgE-mediated, tend to happen immediately (within 1 hr)
can have delayed response , prior exposure
Type 2 Drug Reactions
Ab mediated, IgG or IgM binds receptor –> complement activation
Examples of Type 2 Exposures
AIHA
Goodpastures
Myasthenia
SJS versus TEN (%)
SJS <10% BSA
TEN >30% BSA
Type 3 Drug Reaction
Immune Complex Mediated
Vasculitis
Examples of Type 3 Exposures
Serum Sickness, Arthrus Rxn, Autoimmune Diseases, Tetanus/Diphtheria
Type 4 Drug Reaction
T cell / Cell mediated Hypersensitivity
24-72 hours
Examples of Type 4 Drug Reactions
Morbilliform rash/drug reaction
fixed drug reaction
DRESS
SJS/TEN
Innate Immune System
nonspecific, rapid
complement, macrophages, NK cells
Adaptive Immune System
Specific, Memory
Divides into Humoral and Cell-Meditaed
Humoral Adaptive Immune System
B cells, Plasma Cells, IgS
Cell Mediated Adaptive Immune System
T cells
CD4 vs CD8 cells
CD4 - extracellular
CD8 - intracellular, cytotoxic
CD4 Th1 cells
induce CD8+
CD4 th2 Cells
Induce B cells, Abs
X Linked gammaglobulinemia
males w/ absent and minimal tonsils
low Igs of all types
recurrent bacterial infections, giardia, enterovirus
CVID
defieincy of at least 2 subclasses + poor response to vaccines
recurrent sinus and pulmonary infections
CVID - associated illnesses/things
sarcoid like disease
autoimmune illnesses
malabsporption/PLE
Selective IgA Deficiency
asymptomatic to sinopulmonary infections
increased risk of AI diseases - hashiomoto, celiac dx
Specific Antibody Deficiency
normal Igs but poor response to vaccines
