What are the principles of immunisation?
To expose immune system to antigens from a disease causing agent AND
protect against future exposure to the pathogen

Cowpox

BCG for tuberculosis

Establish attenuated infection in vaccinated person
Provides prolonged exposure to antigens
Single dose effective for life long immunity
What are examples of the whole killed organism / component vaccine?
Pertussis
Hepatitis B
Tetanus
How does the whole killed organism vaccine work?
Briefly expose vaccinated person to antigens of an organism
Requires multiple doses for life long immunity
