Imagery Flashcards
Kosslyn 1973
Boat experiment, imagery is spatial
Spaitial vs. propositional
propositional(Plyshyln): code like language that represents a string of concepts and their relations to each other
-participants use nodes to represent different areas of the boat, longer distances=crossing more nodes
Relationship between viewing distance and detail
things further away look smaller, things closer up are more detailed and bigger
Neurons during perceiving and imagining an object
pereception and imagery use the same neurons to perceive and imagine the object no matter what the object was
aphantasia is not due to
metacognition, it is due to lack of intact imagery
there is overlap in perception and imagery but also dissociations
