IGI Flashcards
What are the outputs of the IGI?
Position (Lat, Long) Attitude (Pitch, Roll) Body angular rates ( Pitch , Roll and Yaw) linear and angular acceleration linear and angular velocity True/Mag heading Altitude Coordinated universal time
What are the 3 Functional modes of the IGI?
INS
GPS
Blended
Where is the IGI unit located?
Inside the left hand nose bay.
Where is the Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna (CRPA) located?
Midway along the top of the tailcone.
How many SWITCHABLE antennas are inside the CRPA?
4
Where is the Digital Antenna Control Unit (DACU)located?
Inside the tail cone .
What is the purpose of the DACU?
The DACU controls the switching in and out of the CRPA individual antenna in response to jamming signals.
Where is the IGI powered from?
DC Essential BB 2
Engine Start BB 1
What must be initialised before applying power to the IGI?
The AMS must be initialised as the initialisation/alignment phase of the IGI relies on data stored within the CDNU.
What will you see on the hover display if you lose IGI data?
A red ‘FAIL’ caption will appear in the centre of the display aswell as a red ‘F’ in place of the GS (Ground Speed) readout.
What caption appears on the WCA display when you have an IGI failure or loss of an attitude sensor?
Amber ‘IGI REF FAIL’
How long does alignment take in GC-Align mode?
4 minutes.
When will the system achieve full accuracy (status 4) ?
When the present position of the aircraft has been input, either manually, or received from the GPS module.
When is IMA (In Motion Alignment) entered?
when partial or no alignment has taken place on the ground and motion has been detected.
Why must you fit a new battery before removing the old one on the IGI unit?
You will lose the LPTS (time), crypto variables and all volatile RAM (Almanacs)
