What is the purpose of the IDM?
Provides the capability to pass messages between various platforms using standard message protocol.
AFAPD referred to as Longbow protocol used.
Growth option for VMF.
What can the IDM send?
Texts Points Tracks Zones Targets
How many networks can the IDM have?
8 Networks configured in the TP split into:
3 groups with a max of 15 subscribers
How is the IDM connected to the TP?
Acts as a remote terminal.
2 out put channels through:
KY100 MTU 1: V/UH1
KY100 MTU 2: V/UH2 OR V/UHF3
How are messages transmitted?
Max of 16Kbps
Can be on same channel as voice but voice takes preference.
Where is the IDM?
Rear bay, middle shelf, right hand side (next to DAPU)
How does the IDM work?
It does not transmit, sends a signal to selected radio.
Sends swell as accepts digital data.
How is it powered?
No 2 DC Gen BB.
What does the āLā prefix mean?
Longbow.

How long does it take for the TP to communicate with the IDM?
Aprrox 18 sec.
How are much of the settings loaded into IDM.
Loaded into the TP at mission start, prepared on the CMSS.
Some can be changed on CDNU.
What is the default BAUD rate?
16000 (Kpb).
