18
Q

Does Flyschool allow any changes in configuration of acft in the segment between FAP&FAF and MAPt?

A

No

19
Q

What’s the Missed Approach Procedure once it’s announced?

A
  • Move Throttle to Maximum Power Smoothly, but firmly
  • Set Go-Around Flap Setting (Normally Take-Off Flap)
  • Pitch up to maintain the airspeed and begin a climb
20
Q

What’s the callout?

A

Go Around Power
Go Around Flap

21
Q

What do we do once the acft has a positive climb on Altimeter and VErtical Speed?

A

Positive Rate and Gear Up

22
Q

What do we do once we are at 200 ft above minimums or 500 ft AGL (whichever is higher)?

A

Clean the flaps and continue the climb

23
Q

What do we do at 400 ft?

A

First power reduction, same as Takeoff Procedure
Notify to ATC
When acft is controlled on a steady climb
Perform After Take-Off Checklist

24
Q

What do we do once the after take-off checklist is completed?

A

Navigate following the Missed Approach Procedure indicated in the chart

25
Q

What would be do in the remote, but possible scenario, where we need to perform a Missed Approach below Minima? When would it usually occur?

A

In case of any abnormality where the aircraft is not safe to land once it has passed the MDA or MDH and requires a Go-Around

26
Q

When do we proceed with a Go-Around Procedure in this case?

A

When the acft has passed the Minima or MAPt, and the acft is not safe to fly the published missed approach because the published missed approach is based on the acft starting the Go-Around at minima, so the acft will not fly in the protected area in the missed approach procedure.

27
Q

What must the pilot ensure in this case?

A

That we have a procedure to fly safely

28
Q

What will normally be used?

A

Same procedure or study as the EOSID

29
Q

What’s the technique to fly safely in this case?

A

Fly the lowest MSA sector
Keeping caution with terrain, obstacles
Fly safely to regain a new approach

30
Q

What’s a cricling approach?

A

An extension of an instrument approach procedure which provides for visual circling of the aerodrome prior to landing

31
Q

When is this technique used?

A

When there are no available procedures for a rwy, but there are procedures for the opposite rwy instead.

32
Q

How’s this technique flown?

A

Fly the procedure for a rwy, then, upon reaching Minimums for holding, turn left/right (depending on the airport requrements) 45º, and complete a visual pattern for the opposite runway.

33
Q

What do we do once we reach the MAPt or DA/H?

A

turn left/right 45º for 1 minute

After that, turn to join downwind and will proceed as a visual pattern configuring the aircraft as a visual pattern procedure.

34
Q

What do we do on final?

A

Read Landing Checklist

35
Q

What happens in case of a visual contact loss with the rwy at any point of the circling?

A

Follow the Missed Approach Procedure While Circling

36
Q

How’s the Missed Approach Procedure While Circling?

A

Make an initial climbing turn toward the landing rwy and overhead the aerodrome

At this point, pilot will establish the aircraft climbing on the missed approach track

37
Q

Is there only one Missed Approach Procedure While Circling pattern?

A

No, it may be carried out in more than one direction.

38
Q

What’s the Engine Failure during Approach (N-1 Approach)?

Engine failure during approach

A

Complete appropriate engine failure procedure
Approach should be continued
It may not be worth it to attempt a re-start, however, if possibe, it should be attempted

39
Q

How should acft configuration be adjusted?

A

Due to the increased drag, especially the gear’s

It is recommended not to configure the acft until (short) final with the rwy in sight

40
Q

What will happen in the undesirable event of a N-1 Missed Approach?

A

Gear down and flaps down will complicate the maneuver unnecessarily

41
Q

What would happen in case of an engine failure during final approach?

A

The approach should be continued to minimums.

No engine re-start should be attempted at this point.

Fly the aircraft and try to land

42
Q

What’s the most important thing to keep in mind?

A

Configuration of aircraft

However, after having initiated the Final Approach, the aircraft will already be in the landing configuration, which would complicate a missed approach

43
Q

What would happen if we have an Engine Failure during the Missed Approach?

A

Apply full power and clean aircraft as soon as possible

Once positive climb has been established and a safe altitude has been reached:

Engine re-start should be attempted
