How does the AUTO mode determine when to run the anti ice systems?

it’s initiated in the T/O settings on the MCDU. The logic will activate the systems depending on what option you choose. The system recognizes takeoff as being 1700 AGL or 2 min whichever occurs first. Afterwards, it will turn on whenever the systems detect ice. For example:
If you select off, it will keep everything off until 1700 ft or 2 min. even if there is ice
ENG: Will let the engine run until 1700/2 and wing will turn on after.
ALL: Same as above except the wings turn on at wheel 40knts and above
