How is the APU monitored?
FADEC
What does the EMER STOP button do?
when pushed, the SOV for the fuel is closed
What provides the fuel for the APU?
when DC available, DC fuel pump from the right engine. When AC is established, AC fuel pump. When the engine is running, the ejector pump from the right tank.
Altitude Limits for the APU
the APU is able to supply: A/C and pressurization up to 15000 Bleed air for engine start 21000 Electrical AC power to 33000 ABSOLUTE MAX to start APU is 30000
How does the APU shut down normally?
after the switch is placed to off, the cool down period begins for 1 minute. Pneumatics are shut off immediately, the electrical after 1 min
APU will shutdown in flight:
Underspeed, Over speed, FADEC critical error
APU shutdown on the ground:
UFO + Sensor fail, EGT low oil pressure, high oil temperature and FIRE!! UFO SHELF
Engine 2 uses what priority for bleed air?
APU over engine 1
How long must you wait before attempting to start the APU?
30 seconds after the EICAS is energized
Duty cycle for the APU
1&2 attempt cool down is 60 sec. third is 5 min off
