Q

What is the purpose of the collector tank?

A

it’s located inboard and is designed to collect fuel in order to keep the fuel tanks submerged. this will keep a constant flow of fuel to the engines

6
Q

How does the vent system work in the aircraft?

A

fuel vent lines that run to the surge tanks keep the differential pressure within structural limits . it also prevents fuel spillage during maneuvering.

9
Q

How does the ejector pump operate and where is it located?

A

ejector pumps are on each wing and are the primary pumps for fuel supply. they have no moving parts and operate by a venturi motive flow. No electrical power is needed to operate it.

10
Q

How many AC pumps are available and what is the purpose?

A

1 in each tank. they provide fuel flow for engine start, cross engine fuel for crossfeed operations, and APU fuel when engine isn’t running and are there in case the main ejector pump fails.

Q

What message will show when the fuel imbalance reaches 100ibs and the crossfeed valve is open?

A

FUEL EQUAL-XFEED OPEN

17
Q

What is the only way to shut of the FSOV to the engines?

A

fire handle

18
Q

fuel starvation and engine flameout can occur during attitudes greater than 15*, uncoordinated maneuvering, negative GS. TF

A

T

19
Q

Just because the fuel Lo level EICAS message appears does not mean there’s no fuel. TF, explain

A

T, sometimes if the collector tank fails to receive fuel for whatever reason, it will activate the warning system around 660 IBS of fuel in the collector. reference the QRH for instructions.

20
Q

how can the aircraft be refueled?

A

single point right wing

2 over the wing refueling
