Q

Describe the engine starter components

A

2 items. An Air Turbine Starter
Provides means to accelerate the engine to a self sustaining RPM speed.

Starter Control Valve:
Monitored by the FADEC, it opens and closes allowing bleed air to enter and spin the turbine

15
Q

What is the ATTCS and what are its functions?

A

stands for Automatic Takeoff Thrust Control System and it monitors the engine when it’s engaged (toga position) it commands the use of reserve thrust when one of the following conditions occur:
thrust difference of 15%n1
one engine failure T/O and GA
wind shear.
Can be manually selected by advancing thrust to MAX

Q

Can the ATTCS be turned off?

A

yes, MCDU takeoff data page

17
Q

What is flex takeoff?

A

reduced thrust based on assumed temperature.

18
Q

What mode is the highest engine thrust is available?

A

GA reserve

19
Q

4 idle modes

A

Flight idle
Ground idle
final approach idle
Approach Idle

20
Q

When does the Approach mode activates on the idle engine?

A

flying
below 15000
flap 1 or gear down.

21
Q

when does the flight idle activate on final approach?

A

below 1200agl
landing flaps
landing gear

22
Q

What is the overspeed protection on the FADEC for the engine?

A

102% n2 detected. engine shutdown occurs. it won’t relight after 3 overspeeds within 30 seconds
