Ice and Rain Protection Flashcards
How many icing detection probes?
2 probes on fwd fuselage
Can WAI be operated on the ground?
What is the primary method used for WAI? (Anti-iced or de-iced)
No
Can be used as a de-iced or anti-iced, but primarily used in-flight as a de-icer.
What is the max speed for opening the flight deck side windows?
Vref + 80 kts.
When should the beacon be used?
From just before engine start to just after engine shutdown.
What is the backup system to the window heat?
A backup anti-fogging system for the forward windows operates automatically if the primary window heat system fails
What is the requirement for using engine anti ice on the ground?
OAT 10°C or less
And visible moisture or snow, ice or slush or water is on the ramp and taxiways
Best answer: “Icing conditions”. FCOM 16.2 and 16.4
When do you need to do an engine run-up before take off (GE)?
When engine anti-ice is required and the OAT is 3°C or below
What is the run up procedure?
If your asked this, look it up in the supplementary section.
When engine anti-ice is required and the OAT is 3°C or below, do an engine run up, as needed, to minimize ice build-up.
Use the following procedure: Check that the area behind the airplane is clear. Run-up to a minimum of 50% N1 for approximately 1 second duration at intervals no greater than 60 minutes.
What is the difference between wing and engine anti ice in flight?
After 2 cycles EAI comes on, after 10 cycles WAI comes on when in auto.
